G one are the days when Nigeria could boast of her rich and intact Rainforest. This natural endowment helped place the country alongside other Rainforest rich countries in Sub-Saharan Africa and invariably a recognized zone in the extended rainforest belt of tropical Africa which stretches into the Congo Basin. However, it is no news again that the glory days of the Rainforest of Nigeria are far gone. The extent of the decline is such that would bring tears to the eyes of well-minded conservationists that might have at one time or the other worked around the forests of Nigeria in its glory days. I t is the first of my write-ups in the New Year and on that note I bid every potential reader of this piece a great new year. The year is some few days old and as the first month is almost done with, I have had a little challenge as to what to put up on my eco-blog for a starter in the New Year. Finally, I have decided to come out in a more personal way which I believe would inspire more ideas needed for the rest of the year. The year seems quite young to have enough variables to predict some possibilities and it’s a little too early to assume any level of certainty as regards where we left off on issues that got the most attention in 2016.
