Step-Up Green Campaign



The world is changing! Yes, it is no news again that our world is fast changing. The facts are all around us and it doesn’t take so much to notice the impact of the changes. However it is only natural for the changes to occur as the only constant thing in life is change.

There is however a difference with the changes happening now as it is occurring at a rate that humans cannot possibly conform with. It is just so fast that the possibility if losing the valued essence of life on our dear planet is so real and imminent except something is done to halt the changes.
Humans, the custodians of the planet have not been careful enough and now the survival of the planet lies in their hands.

The problem in this part of the world has been the lack of information that would change people’s thinking from “This is normal to we can do something about this” and another problem is the general notion that nature takes care of itself. But in recent times, the obvious impact id eco-related problems have helped to create appreciable level of awareness such that people are becoming more concerned of the change around them.

The inclusion of youths is deliberate and many awareness campaigns have targeted them directly. This is the approach we have adopted at Green Impact International in reaching out to the public on eco-smart orientation and climate change awareness. We have been making appropriate efforts in this regards for the last 4 years and the results have been remarkable.

Currently the organization has embarked on an outreach program tagged” Step-Up Green project”. The project is envisaged to reach 50 schools and a population of 1025 students alongside the establishment if 10 dedicated green spaces within the schools, the part of which has been completed.
The objective of the project is however to make these young ones focal points of change within their schools and respective homes while setting a pace of difference in their choices and lifestyles.
Although there are still a number of problems being faced in ensuring a wholesome change especially in the grassroots level, but the continuous moves on the side of concerned bodies would make a tangible impact if sustained and maintained.

The involvement of Youths in the movement to spread awareness and insights that will mitigate climate change at individual and community level is a sure way to ensuring sustainability at individual efforts in mitigating climate change.
Green Impact International in up to the task with this and we won’t relent on our efforts in ensuring the true value of our dear planet is restored.

Drought holding education to ransom in Kenya

Njagi   Amos has been a teacher for 19 years and is currently the Head Master at Marsabit Boys School in Marsabit, Northern Kenya. He has moved from school to school as years of drought drained the natural and financial resources from the region, making it more and more difficult for schools to remain open and for children to attend classes. Marsabit is suffering from increased droughts due to climate change resulting in families going without water and food prices going through the roof. In turn, schools are struggling to provide food and water to their students while parents are unable to afford tuition fees and need their children in the daily struggle to find sustenance. A Partnership Forged for the Future

In 2013, at the Major Group Partnership Conference on Forest held in Rio de Janeiro, a work partnership opportunity was established between the NGO Viola and Green Impact International from Nigeria. This partnership was made possible by the interest of the Executive Director of NGO Viola, Ludmila Zhirina who was interested in the similarity of the work engagements with young people that Green Impact International does in Nigeria. Through this development and over the years, both organizations have shared best practices regarding idea exchange, youth group engagement programs, eco-teaching material development, and joint reporting for publicity.  During our collaboration, NGO Viola shared the success of the SPARE program with Green Impact International, hoping it could inspire young people under the community outreach programs in Nigeria to learn best practices and ignite their interest in protecting the environment innovatively and passionately.
