More piece from friends in Russia
Each
year the International Day of energy conservation, as proposed by program SPARE
in 2008 is been marked in Russia and it is certainly becoming more popular in all educational institutions in Moscow. Kindergartens,
Schools, Colleges, Universities celebrate this day of good deeds and it is quite popular to see
institution publishing information and photos about the actions,
the lessons on energy conservation, business games, and practical activities in
their institution. on their websites The main objective of the new thematic festival is to
promote among Muscovites methods of rational use of resources and promote the
development of renewable energy sources.
The Day of energy conservation has
become a common celebration for Muscovites to an extent that anyone can type in Internet search
engines bearing the words, and will see a huge number of educational
institutions that have on their websites related piece and pictures about their
adapted version of the event. This activity is largely due to the fact that the
regional coordinators and active SPARE program groups have successfully used a
variety of innovative methods for the promotion of energy conservation and
efficiency among children and adults.
To further add some innovation to the program, Professor
Vladislav Shinkarenko has made energy-saving tips in verses and called the book
"Energy from nothing" and actively promote it among the least
popular. The constant work of the active SPARE kindergartens group contest
themed drawings and photographs, the constant publication of humorous themed
pictures via blogs and networks have made it popular among kids. Through this,
we have achieved the goal of getting kindergartens and families with young
children involved in the processes of conservation of heat, water and
resources.
Educational sessions on energy saving for 4-10
classes have become popular among students. With the help of Methodists Russian
Socio Ecological Union and the NGO "Viola" technique training
sessions and demos have been developed to support the program. Lidiya Povzikova,
a biology teacher of school number 2129 holds classes on energy efficiency, not
only in a few schools in Moscow, but also promoting them through practical
exercises and excursions to Moscow City Environmental Centre "Vorobevy
gory".
Marina Suhopyatkina, a physics teacher at
school number 1256 is the initiator of the work on energy efficiency with the
older students. Students of this school are using business games to create
videos and raise the real issues of the school district for local officials.
For example, in 2015, an active group of the school investigated the causes of
traffic congestion on the road near their school. The students analyzed the situation of air
pollution and waste of resources and the use of gasoline. Pupils of
SPARE-school made quantitative estimates of this situation and calculated the
additional carbon dioxide into the atmosphere per day, month, and year. They
compiled the video and posted it on YouTube. The Energy Saving Day School
students and teachers met with the local administration and held a roundtable.
Thematic concerts, competitions, business
games, competitions were held in many educational institutions in Moscow
November 11, 2015.
